Injection?Induced Seismicity Size Distribution Dependent on Shear Stress

چکیده

Like natural seismicity, induced seismicity caused by injection also shows a power law size distribution, and its gradient b-value is used for seismic hazard analysis. Despite the well-known result that negatively correlated with differential stress earthquakes, there no similar correlation variations because nearly constant injection-induced we thus investigate dependence on relative shear acting existing fractures, using fault orientation in situ information. The occurring along fractures having high has significantly lower b-values than does associated fractures. We examine dependency slightly changing stress, but relationship not clear. dependent faults, which novel physical explanation of seismicity.

Predicting Shear Stress Distribution in Rectangular Channels Using Entropy Concept

This study makes use of the Tsallis entropy to predict the shear stress distribution. Given a definition of the Tsallis entropy, it is maximized by using the probability density function, which then is used to attain a novel shear stress equation. This is then employed for calculating the shear stress distribution in rectangular channels in different aspect ratios and finally, for viability, th...

A Size-dependent Bernoulli-Euler Beam Formulation based on a New Model of Couple Stress Theory

In this paper, a size-dependent formulation for the Bernoulli-Euler beam is developed based on a new model of couple stress theory presented by Hadjesfandiari and Dargush. The constitutive equation obtained in this new model, consists of only one length scale parameter that is capable of capturing the micro-structural size effect in predicting the mechanical behavior of the structure. Having on...

Free Vibration Analysis of Size-Dependent, Functionally Graded, Rectangular Nano/Micro-plates based on Modified Nonlinear Couple Stress Shear Deformation Plate Theories

In the present study, a vibration analysis of functionally graded rectangular nano-/microplates was considered based on modified nonlinear coupled stress exponential and trigonometric shear deformation plate theories. Modified coupled stress theory is a non-classical continuum mechanics theory. In this theory, a material-length scale parameter is applied to account for the effect of nanostructu...

p21 mediates shear stress-dependent antiapoptotic function

Objective: The antiapoptotic effect of p21 (p21) was examined in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC) exposed to laminar shear stress (SS) or to the nitric oxide donor sodium nitroprusside (SNP) and in a mouse model of hindlimb ischemia. Methods: In vitro: Cells were cultured without serum and in the presence of cobalt chloride to simulate hypoxia for 12 h (T0). Shear stress was applie...

Applications of higher order shear deformation theories on stress distribution in a five layer sandwich plate

In this paper, layerwise theory (LT) along with the first, second and third-order shear deformation theories (FSDT, SSDT and TSDT) are used to determine the stress distribution in a simply supported square sandwich plate subjected to a uniformly distributed load. Two functionally graded (FG) face sheets encapsulate an elastomeric core while two epoxy adhesive layers adhere the core to the face ...
